It Smells Like A Skunk

This morning in the shower I was given a realization....

Yesterday a friend shared the movie The Wildman of Shaggy Creek. I'm so sensitive that I am not able to watch most things but I think that because of my connection with the "wildman" that I already have, it was easier.

I feel that they portrayed very well how they know our hearts and they know who the troublemakers are and give them a hard time. The last interaction between Scott and the "wildman" was absolutely beautiful because it portrays their gentleness and love. And it totally warmed my heart to see the smile on Scott's face at the end as he stood on the porch in the dusk hearing the howls in the woods.

There are several times where the children sniff the air and say "that smells like a skunk." So this morning I'm taking a shower when I'm suddenly reminded of how a night or two ago I woke up in the middle of the night and said exactly the same thing to myself as the children did, "That smells like a skunk."

Well, would a skunk be out and about in subzero temps with a foot of snow on the ground? I don't think so... as I made this connection I remembered a day or two before that, I was sitting on the sofa when I got a whiff of a sweet flowery scent.

In the nearly two years I've lived here I have never once smelled an actual skunk. I feel that I have a very valid reason to believe that my "wildman" friends are checking on me... this realization has totally made my day and with this new awareness I will be quicker to say hi to them rather than letting my mind rationalize it away...
